Braun Racing is pleased to announce today that 1997 Formula One World Champion Jacques Villeneuve will return to the wheel of the No. 32 Dollar General Toyota in the NAPA Auto Parts 200 presented by Dodge at Circuit Gilles- Villeneuve de Montréal, August 28 and 29. This will be his third start in the NASCAR Nationwide Series on the famous circuit bearing his father’s name. But before the Montreal meeting, the Quebecer will also have defended himself at the wheel of the same car during the Bucyrus 250, presented for the first time on June 19, on the Road America road circuit in Elkhart Lake. Twice during his years in the CART championship, Jacques won on the long and legendary Wisconsin track.

In his first participation in the Montreal event in 2008, Villeneuve qualified the Braun Racing Toyota Camry in 5th place and despite the heavy rain, the talented and experienced driver remained among the first until he is involved in an accident. Last year, he qualified sixth and finished with a superb 4th place.

“It’s fantastic to see Braun Racing and Dollar General again, ” said Jacques Villeneuve. To get back behind the wheel after an exciting and very fun race last year in Montreal and what’s more, to find Elkhart Lake where I won my first CART series race and to relive happy memories, it’s extraordinary. I’m really looking forward to getting back on track. »

Remember that Jacques has invaluable experience on the road circuit, particularly on the two tracks he will compete against this summer. Throughout his career, he has enjoyed successes that many can envy. Only two other racers can boast of having been CART series champion, winner of the Indianapolis 500 (1995) and Formula 1 world champion.

“Braun Racing and Dollar General are very happy to count on Jacques Villeneuve “with the team in Montreal and at Road America, behind the wheel of our number 32 car ,” said Todd Braun, owner of Braun Racing. He has had success with us in Montreal over the last two years. His talent and knowledge of both circuits is an excellent acquisition for our team and our road racing program.

Delegated promoter of the NAPA Auto Parts 200 presented by Dodge event, François Dumontier welcomes the announcement of the return of Jacques Villeneuve.“For Montreal fans, Jacques’ return is excellent news. But what is even more interesting is that the Road America race will allow him to become even better acquainted with his car and the Braun Racing teammates, so that when he returns to our circuit, a few weeks more Later, he should be in full confidence and legitimately claim great honors. On the other hand, knowing that after Patrick Carpentier, this other great favorite of our public will be there next August, allows us to anticipate a lot of enthusiasm from fans.
